Chautauqua County, New York, USA
In 1914 he delivered mail (postcards only) via his Curtiss hydroplane from and to various points around Chautauqua Lake.
To help cover costs, A.J. Engel had printed up a set of six postcards #210-#215 featuring his Curtis hydroplane at various locations (a couple a bit doctored...). He also used a special cancel for the mail he carried visible at the bottom right above. (This is actually one of two different cancels he used).
Engel's "Bumble Bee" is still with us and can be seen at the Frederick C. Crawford Auto - Aviation Museum in Cleveland, Ohio.
